Aconex Release Notes and Updates

We're working hard to bring you new features and updates to Aconex.

If you use Aconex Mail or Documents, this release is good news for you.

First up, we’ve added new Restricted Fields functionality to the project owner’s Mail configuration toolkit. Users in the project owning company can now add private notes to mail in a structured, searchable way.

The new Mail search now has an Advanced Search panel that makes it easy to access all possible search filters before you search. We’ve streamlined results filtering, too. And those who use Aconex in Arabic now have access to all the Mail search functionality—including Mail Details searching.

This release sees our new Mail search moved out of beta and into the Aconex application. While the old Mail search is still available, it won’t be from the end of 2015, so we’ve switched everyone to the new search automatically in this release.

Later this month, we’ll be switching all users across to our new Mail search tool. This step preempts the removal of the current Aconex Mail search at the end of June 2016.

From new Aconex modules and features to exciting new beta products, in the last few months we’ve delivered some great improvements to all users.

This release gives users more control over a range of features, including the values that appear in your projects’ Documents select lists, and who can access Connected BIM.

It also sees Field integrated into the main Aconex application — you no longer need to switch to a separate product to use Field functionality on your project.

Note that some of the items mentioned here will be released during this 30-day release cycle, rather than at its start. You may not see some of these additions until later in the cycle.

This release gives Aconex Project Owners more control over the metadata associated with project documents.

We’ve expanded the capabilities of cascading metadata, and provided functionality to turn off basic document auto-numbering.

We’ve also added the ability share both mail and documents searches project wide.

If you use the Online Viewer or Connected BIM, you’ll need to change your browser.

This release heralds a new era for the Aconex Workflows module. Now you can use Workflows to manage a much wider range of business processes, as we’ve added the ability to create as many Review Status labels and sets as you like. You can also control who uses which sets. We’ve upgraded our APIs to handle this new functionality, too.

We’ve made improvements to the way Viewpoints and linked documents are handled in Connected BIM, to make the communication around models easier to access. And Reports users will see some new reports that didn’t make it into the last release.

Aconex Project Administrators now have a tool to build their own review status sets for Workflows and Supplier Documents. They no longer need to rely on a single set that’s chosen at the start of the project.

This month sees the full release of the new Reports module to all organizations on Aconex. The mail thread changes we released last month will become the default view for all users in this release, too.

Additionally, Connected BIM is now Mac-compatible, and we’ve made upgrades to Field and the Aconex APIs.

Note that some of the items mentioned here will be released during this 30-day release cycle, rather than at its start. You may not see some of these additions until later in the cycle.
