OVERVIEW

In big news, Field gets a shiny new feature in Checklist Categories, the new Workflows viewer gets rolled out to all projects (not currently using AutoVue) and also delivers image-based stamping of documents, and there's a bumper crop of improvements in BIM, Process Insights and Aconex for Mobile.

Note that items mentioned here may be released during this 30-day release cycle, rather than at its start.

Workflows

Stage 1 Rollout of new viewer in Workflows

The new document viewer, which provides an easy way to review and comment on documents in a workflow, will be available on all projects that are not making use of the old viewer.

If your project is using AutoVue, our old viewer, we will be guiding you through a transition to the new viewer in early 2017. We will provide more information on that process soon.

Image-based stamping in the new viewer

Reviewing a document with the new viewer just got better! You can now drag images directly onto documents/drawings from your desktop. Have your own Approved stamp? Just drag and drop to put it on the document you’re reviewing.

Documents

Exclude Markups option reinstated on document supersede

We have reinstated the Exclude Markups options on the Document Supersede page. We had removed them as a part of the move to the new online viewer – they were used exclusively with documents that had been marked up with AutoVue. They will remain until we complete the transition to the new online viewer.

Field

Use Checklist Categories to organize your checklist templates

Do you have a large number of checklist templates to manage? Do you need to start new checklists or find an existing checklist? Well Checklist Categories is here to help. This new feature allows administrators to categorize checklist templates and inspectors to quickly find or start a checklist. It also makes it easier for multiple teams to work together – for example, when going to choose a checklist, the safety team can filter the complete set of checklists and see only those related to their area of expertise.

Better offline functionality for inspectors

When using the mobile app in poor or no connectivity, you can now start a new checklist and also view and edit checklists that you’ve started while offline. For example if you’re working on a remote site with no internet connection you can still complete your inspection tasks and sync your work with the system when you have connected. This feature will be extended to the Issues module in early 2017.

BIM

Chrome viewer goes live!

You can now use Chrome to experience the full BIM experience. Yes, we’ve updated the viewer for Chrome and it’s available now, offering seamless loading of models and clearer, more detailed rendering. And there’s no need for any plugins at all!

Adjust system resources to add more detail to your federated model

With the introduction of viewer preferences for the model viewer, you can modify your system resource allocation to increase the capacity available for loading models. This can provide a more complete picture by increasing the number of models in your federated view.

Insights – Beta

Insights, the new way of viewing and understanding your project’s data, keeps improving. RFI Insights is a dashboard reporting system coming out of beta, and it now includes links to support content to help you interpreting the information at hand.

Also, joining the beta dashboards for Workflows and Variations, we now offer an Issues dashboard as well, where you can gain visibility over the status of your Field issues, and also understand where in your projects the issues are sitting.
