Release 17.10.0

Packages is here!

Packages is the newest module in the Aconex family, and after a while in beta is now officially live. We also introduce daily issues notifications for Field users and say goodbye to our Autovue viewer as the “new” viewer rolls out to everyone.

Note that items mentioned here may be released during this 30-day release cycle, rather than at its start. We also stagger the core release dates across the instances.

The core release dates in this cycle are as follows:

• AU1 – October 15          • UK1 – October 23

• Aldar, MEA,                   • HK1 – October 25
  KSA1 – October 27

• CN1 – October 26          • US1 – October 29

You might have seen Packages popping up in beta for a while. But now Aconex’s latest design and construction tool is available for purchase.

A package is a number of documents that you group together for a specific purpose. For example, you might create a package of electrical design drawings for one level of a building you’re working on. This creates a snapshot of the documents at a point in time.

Speak to your Aconex representative if you’d like to understand how you might use it on your project, and here’s a video we prepared earlier that will paint a sharper picture for you.

Along with Packages comes Package Reviews

Package Reviews makes Packages even more useful. You can create a review process for a package, setting up review phases and nominating participants for each stage – similar to a workflow.

A note for our UK1 instance users. We’re undertaking some work that will make the overall performance of Aconex better, but this means that some of our new features, such as Package Reviews will be slightly delayed for you. We anticipate that this work will be complete by mid January 2018.

Build relationships between your documents with Related Items

It seems pretty simple – Related Items is used to create relationships between documents. And it is simple, but this feature has many uses. Here’s one – if you have a comments document that you’ve been using as you review a drawing, you could link the two documents with Related Items. Then if you look at that drawing in the Document Register, you’ll have quick and easy access to the comments document. You can check out the video below for a step by step guide to using Related Items, or speak to your Aconex representative for more information.

The “new” viewer rolls out to all

It’s not so new to most of you, but the Autovue viewer (which some of you might remember) is now gone, and all Aconex projects across the globe will now use only the “new” viewer – which really is a great tool – try it!

Edit Inspection names on mobile

When carrying out an inspection, you can now give it a title, so that it’s easier to find it amongst all your inspections.

Daily Mail notification of actions

We’re making it easier for you to plan your day. Every morning you’ll receive a summary mail listing outstanding actions to perform, like assigned defects or works ready for re-inspection.

Admins will be automatically subscribed to these notifications and will be able to set their preferences for these notifications, or opt-out if they prefer.

Insights on your Tasks page behaves the way you want it to

If you collapse the Insights dashboard on your Tasks page, it’ll now remember to stay collapsed next time you log in.
