Internet Explorer: Recommended Configuration

Follow this guide on setting up Internet Explorer for the best Aconex experience.

Aconex supports the latest versions of the Internet Explorer browser.
See the full list of web browsers we support.

You may need to:

  • Clear your browser history.
  • Set recommended browser configuration when using Aconex to allow Aconex websites to display pop-up windows and store cookies.
  • Make sure your browser spell check function is working, using the Internet Explorer help page.

General Housekeeping – Clearing your Temporary Internet Files

Your browser stores information from websites and uses this cached information instead of downloading the information again to improve browsing speed. If you’re having an issue with Aconex, clearing your temporary Internet files may fix the problem.

  1. From the Navigation toolbar in Internet Explorer, click Tools and select Internet Options.

  1. From the General tab, click the Delete button under Browsing history.

  1. Select the Temporary Internet Files checkbox.
  2. Select the Cookies checkbox.
  3. Deselect all other checkboxes, including the Preserve Favorites website data checkbox.
  4. Click the Delete button.

  1. Click the OK button.

Adding Aconex as a Trusted Site

  1. From the Navigation toolbar in Internet Explorer, click Tools and select Internet Options.

  1. Click the Security tab.
  2. Click the Trusted sites icon and then click the Sites button.

  1. Enter the website address for your Aconex instance in the in Address of web site field. See the table below.

  1. Click the Add button.
  2. Deselect the Require server verification ( https:) for all sites in this zone checkbox.

  1. Click the Close button.

Allowing cookies for Aconex Websites

If you’ve set your browser to not accept cookies, you can change your setting to allow cookies from Aconex websites.

  1. From the Navigation toolbar in Internet Explorer, click Tools and select Internet Options.

  1. Click the Privacy tab.
  2. Set the Privacy level to Medium or less.
  3. Click the Sites button.

  1. Enter the website address for your Aconex instance in the Address of website field.  Refer to the table above.
  2. Click the Allow button.

  1. Click the OK button.

Allowing Popups for Aconex Websites

If you’ve set your browser to block popups, you can change your setting to allow popups from Aconex websites.

  1. From the Navigation toolbar in Internet Explorer, click Tools and select Internet Options.

  1. Click the Privacy tab.
  2. Set the Privacy level to Medium or less.
  3. Click the Settings button.

  1. Enter the website address for your Aconex instance in the Address of website to allow field.  Refer to the table above.
  2. Click the Add button.

Advanced Settings

  1. From the Navigation toolbar in Internet Explorer, click Tools and select Internet Options.

  1. Click the Advanced tab.

  2. Scroll down the Settings list, and under Browsing deselect the Show friendly HTTP error messages checkbox.
  3. Scroll down the Settings list, and under Security select the Do not save encrypted pages to disk checkbox.
  4. Click the Apply button.
