Setup the initial Area hierarchy in Field

Design and create your area hierarchy for a new Field project.

When Oracle Aconex activates Field for your project, it will be configured with just one initial Area (the project name). Your Field project administrators can then add/edit subsequent areas throughout the project lifecycle via Field > Settings

Optionally, Oracle Aconex can upload your Project Areas in bulk via an Excel Spreadsheet BEFORE you start logging any issues or inspections. If issues or inspections have already been captured, we cannot administer the areas.

Design your project hierarchy

Say you have one building with two levels, and five apartments on each floor. Here’s how you could design the project hierarchy.

Project Hierarchy

Create your project hierarchy

Now you’ve agreed on the design of the project hierarchy, create the structure in Excel.

Download the template to get started. (66 KB .xlsx file)

Complete the project hierarchy design within the Excel template and send it to Oracle support staff – but make sure you do this BEFORE raising any issues. We’ll let you know when the project is ready to access in Field.

Need to make a change to the structure you've already set up? See Adding, Editing or Deleting sub-areas of your project.
