August 2023

In the 23.08.100 release, you can do more with documents, work faster with models, and more...

This release is for:
  • Document Controllers who upload lots of documents.
  • Everyone who wants to save time working with Models.
  • Package users who need to add lots of documents fast.

Documents

What's new

Zip uploads are back

  • Thanks to your feedback, the new upload now supports zip file extraction.
  • Your upload profile will be enabled by default to expand zip files on upload. If you don't want this to happen, simply uncheck the box in your profile.
  • Click the Zip File Upload tab and choose your zip file from your computer. The contents will be extracted to your temporary files and ready to register as individual files.
  • If you want to upload your zip files as a single document, you can continue dropping them in the Upload Documents tab. The contents will not be unzipped.

Improvements and fixes

Bye-bye bugs

  • We fixed the error that stopped some of you from updating the confidentiality list on a document.
  • You'll be pleased to know those pesky debug errors will no longer appear when adding large numbers of values to input fields.
  • Occasionally, while inline editing it was possible to click save several times, causing errors. Now the save and add buttons can only be clicked after all values are fully loaded.

Field

What's new

Provide inspection attachments earlier

  • Note: This feature has been delayed to a future release.

Models

What's new

Return to your model, right where you left it

  • The model viewer now remembers where you left it, if you click elsewhere in Aconex.
  • This means you no longer have to reload your models each time you return to them.
  • For example, from your model, click your inbox, respond to an RFI, and view a document. Then, go back to your model and continue working where you left off.
  • Supports moving between screens in a single web browser session. Some features, such as clicking a linked mail, are not currently supported and will reset the model viewer. Refreshing your browser will also reset the model viewer.

Improvements and fixes

Supporting infrastructure projects with IFC 4.3

  • Upload and view IFC 4.3 files directly in Aconex. Then, use them in Model Coordination processes.
  • Supports horizontal resources such as roads, railways, ports, inland waterways, bridges, and common infrastructure elements.

Work seamlessly in Navisworks

  • We've improved the user experience while using the Model Coordination plugin in Navisworks.
  • Update, group, and manage clashes in Navisworks, and see the updates instantly via the Aconex plugin (and vice-versa).
  • Select an object in the plugin, and it will also be selected in Navisworks.
  • Objects hidden in Aconex will also remain hidden when you view the model in Navisworks via the plugin.

Plugin fix

  • Sometimes the plugin failed to load if it wasn't installed for your computer's user account. The plugin now displays a message to let you know if this has occurred.

Cost

Improvements and fixes

More helpful messaging

  • We've updated messaging to help you find and update related records when deleting:
    • Contract pay item with a contract change Item linked
    • Contract pay item with a change event Item linked
    • Contract change with a change event Item linked
    • Control accounts with a change event markup Items linked

Improvements and fixes

We fixed some bugs

  • Working on more than 20 projects? Now when you configure a new dashboard process, you'll see all your projects listed in the project selector.
  • Some of you were unable to export the User Details, Assignment, and Configuration report. We fixed this and the report will now generate.
  • We fixed an error that occurred using different date and time formats in custom reports.
  • You can now filter by Financial fields in Cost reportsPreviously these filters were not working as expected.

  • Previously all projects were displayed as Active.

What's new

A new API for Packages

  • We've added a new API to obtain the status of package documents.
  • Find the new Package Documents Status GET in the Packages API documentation.

Updated Cost payload examples

  • We've removed unused fields from the payload examples in the Cost API documentation. The example now shows the minimum required fields to create a record.

Performance

We'll start the release on August 9 but it depends on what instance your project is on. Some updates will be released later in the 30-day release cycle.

All instances. CN1 and US2 will be updated after their change freeze ends.

Release schedule

We take a staggered approach when rolling out features and improvements to each instance. This means that on the release date, you may not see all updates immediately. Features are progressively rolled out over a 30-day period, starting from the indicated release dates below. We can’t guarantee a global rollout of features across instances within the same timeframe. Features that are not available on all instances are listed here. This information is accurate at the time of publishing and is subject to change without notice.
