November 2023

In the 23.11.100 release, you can create package hierarchies, track project activity, bulk copy projects, and do more in Models, Cost, and the Online Viewer.

This release is for:
  • Package admins who want to move packages into a package hierarchy.
  • Org Admins who need to track activity on their owned projects.
  • Project-owning organizations who need to create lots of projects.
  • Document reviewers who requested dotted line markups.
  • Design teams who work with large models.
  • Contract Admins who maintain upstream and downstream contact details.
  • Data analysts on the AU2 instance, who want to build their own reports.

Documents

Improvements and fixes

Clarifying date filtering

  • You'll now see an error message if you filter date fields outside of the expected range. Previously you'd see a blank screen.
  • Date ranges can be filtered between 1 Jan 1970 to 1 Jan 2100.

Viewer

Improvements and fixes

Markup with style

  • As requested, you can now choose a dotted style for your line, cloud, and arrow markups.
  • You can also set a separate style for the middle section of your lines.

We fixed some bugs

  • Bulk annotation now correctly copies text markups that contain an & symbol.
  • If you've used a numbered list in a callout markup, you'll be pleased to see the numbering formatting now stays put, instead of being removed when you click out of the markup.

Packages

What's new

The packages have packages

  • The wait is over - package hierarchies are here!
  • Group related packages together to match your Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), and break deliverables down into smaller packages of work.
  • As the project evolves, move packages into required parent and child relationships.
  • As before, each package contains its own set of documents, mail, and attachments. The existing limit of 1000 documents per package applies to each individual package in a hierarchy.
  • Hierarchies are only visible in the new packages search. If you switch back to the classic search, you will not see the hierarchical structure. Switch to the new search to see your hierarchies again.
  • Click the triangle icon to expand a package and view its hierarchy.
  • See parent and child relationships from the Related Packages screen.
  • Enable package hierarchies from your projects settings. Hierarchies are enabled by default for all new projects but can be turned off.

Models

Improvements and fixes

Do more in Models

  • We've optimized the model viewer. While navigating and zooming around larger models, you'll get a smoother experience.
  • Your models can now be updated with any supported file type. For example, an existing IFC model can be updated with a Revit file.
  • If your organization name is rather long, you may have had trouble assigning roles while editing an issue set. This has been fixed and the role assignment now fits the screen as expected.

Updated selection colors

  • You'll find new colors when selecting objects in the model viewer.
  • Objects selected by left-click are now highlighted in blue. Previously they were shown in yellow.
  • Right-clicked objects are now highlighted in light blue.

Cost

Improvements and fixes

Easier contact imports

  • With new template fields, you can easily import and export contact details for upstream and downstream contracts. The new fields are:
    • Downstream/Upstream Contact
    • Address
    • Phone
    • Company No.

Adding more details

  • We've added Forecast Start and Forecast Finish dates to the Rules of Credit tab. Use these new forecast dates in reports, imports, and APIs to keep track of your project.
  • Transfer limits on budget transfers now round to three decimal places, allowing you to transfer a more accurate amount.
  • We've updated messaging to help you find and update related records when deleting:
    • An Organizational Breakdown Structure (OBS) with a linked Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) through responsibility assignment.
    • An Organizational Breakdown Structure (OBS) with a linked user.

We fixed these bugs

  • We resolved an issue that prevented some contract change items from being deleted.
  • The Reporting Period FTE hours column in the Cost Worksheet Org Report now displays the sub-total and grand total amounts.

Insights

What's new

Track project usage

  • Project-owning Org Admins have a new report to track activity across owned projects.
  • View monthly and cumulative usage of mail, documents, workflows, and supplier documents for the past 12 months.
  • You'll find the Project Activity Report under organization reports.
  • Click the report, select up to 20 projects your organization owns, and choose the time period.
  • You can only see and select projects where your organization is the Aconex project-owning organization.
  • Org Admins can grant the Download Project Activity Report permission so other users can run this report too.

We'll start the release on November 10 but it depends on what instance your project is on. Some updates will be released later in the 30-day release cycle.

All instances. US2 will be updated after its change freeze period ends.

Release schedule

We take a staggered approach when rolling out features and improvements to each instance. This means that on the release date, you may not see all updates immediately. Features are progressively rolled out over a 30-day period, starting from the indicated release dates below. We can’t guarantee a global rollout of features across instances within the same timeframe. Features that are not available on all instances are listed here. This information is accurate at the time of publishing and is subject to change without notice.
