December 2023

In the 23.12.100 release, start workflows faster, preview distribution groups, get more details during site inspections, and more.

This release is for:
  • Document Controllers who want to start workflows faster.
  • Everyone who requested to preview distribution groups when sending mail.
  • Inspectors who need to capture more information.
  • Package Admins who asked for mailing groups in distribution lists.
  • Org Admins who generate user reports.

Documents

What's new

Start a workflow faster after uploading documents

  • We've added an option to Start a workflow from the upload success pop-up.
  • This applies to uploading or updating a document and creating or updating a placeholder.
  • Up to 200 documents/placeholders can be added to a workflow. You won't see this option if you're working with more than 200 documents.

Improvements and fixes

Clarifying related Items

We've improved the messaging when removing related items.

  • Remove Related Items from current version is now Remove current version of the related item(s).
  • Remove Related Items from all versions is now Remove all versions of the related item(s).

We fixed these bugs

  • When using the Firefox web browser the refresh hierarchies button no longer blocks the screen. We've also stopped this option from creating duplicates if pressed multiple times.
  • The Document Activity log now displays the results in the correct chronological order.
  • We fixed an issue where some LOTE characters were not displaying correctly when viewing document properties.
  • We've optimized the document search screen to allow you to scroll at different screen resolutions.

Mail

Improvements and fixes

Preview distribution groups

We heard your feedback. When previewing distribution rules, you can now see the users who are part of a mailing group.

  • Previously if a group was added to mail as part of a distribution rule, you could only preview the group name and not its members.
  • Now, recipients who are part of a group are shown with a green distribution group icon.

See project fields in transmitted documents

  • Transmittals now show document fields and project fields.
  • Document Controllers can now see all related information within a transmittal in a single screen.
  • When viewing file properties you'll find project fields associated with the selected documents, in addition to the regular document fields.

Field

Improvements and fixes

Fitting more in

  • You asked, so we did it. We've increased the character limits for some fields.
  • Issue Type and Inspection Template Category now accept up to 50 characters.
  • Inspection Question accepts up to 500 characters.
  • Issue Comments, Issue Description, and Issue Description Suggestions now accept up to 1000 characters.
  • Generally, it's good practice to keep your entries short so they're easier to read.

Packages

What's new

Use mailing groups in distribution lists

You wanted to add mailing groups to your package distribution lists. Now you can.

  • Easily see which recipients are part of a mailing group from the package distribution list.
  • Mailing groups can be added when sending a package transmittal. Hover over the group name to see the list of recipients.
  • Once sent, the package transmittal shows the list of recipients, making it clear who has received the package transmittal.

Improvements and fixes

See review status at a glance

  • We've made it easier to understand why a document version has changed.
  • See which documents are ready to update based on their workflow outcome.
    • The status Updates Available (Review - Pending) means a new document version is currently part of a workflow.
    • The status Updates Available (Review - Approved) means a new document version has completed a workflow and is available to update. Its review status is Approved.

Update documents faster

  • A search filter has been added in package edit mode to help you find documents within a package.
  • For example, package documents can be filtered by Review Source and Review Status.

Cost

Improvements and fixes

Choose your date entry

Rather than picking a date from the calendar, you can now enter a date directly from the keyboard. This saves you time if you know the exact date you want to enter. This applies to the following processes:

  • Submitting/Approving a contract change order.
  • Submitting/Approving a payment application.
  • Creating a change event.

Improved messages

We've updated messaging to help you find and update related records when deleting:

  • Control accounts with contracts that have no pay items linked.
  • Change events with contract changes linked.
  • A distribution curve with control accounts linked.
  • A Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) element when its children are referenced elsewhere in Cost.

We fixed a bug

  • The control element category name is no longer case-sensitive. This means if you have a category named Concrete Materials you cannot add another named concrete materials (in a different case).
  • We've made importing tags faster.

Insights

Improvements and fixes

More user details

We fixed these bugs

  • Filtering the Field inspection report by Checklist Title now displays the results matching the filtered text.

Lobby

Improvements and fixes

View your organization's name

  • For consistency, the organization name you see in the Lobby will now match the value used in Aconex.
  • Previously the Lobby displayed the Organization Name, but will now use the organization's Trading Name.

View all users in one place

  • Need to find a user, but not sure which organization they are in?
  • Now you can search all users across all organizations you administer.
  • Only Lobby accounts are shown. Aconex users who have not yet created Lobby accounts will not be shown on this new screen.

Archives

What's new

Request an archive quote

  • When your project comes to an end, request an archive to retain a copy of your project data.
  • To simplify this process, you can request a quote directly from your project in Aconex. Learn more.

API

Improvements and fixes

Using lastUpdated in Cost APIs

  • The lastUpdated field in Cost APIs is now updated when a tag is changed.  Use this field in your integrations to check if any value was changed on a record.

Updates for Cost APIs

To help you integrate with Cost, we've added payload examples for the following APIs:

  • PATCH /projects/{projectId}/change-items/{id}
  • PATCH /projects/{projectId}/change-orders/{id}
  • PATCH /user/{id}
  • PATCH /projects/{projectId}/payment-application-drafts/{id}

We'll start the release on November 29 but it depends on what instance your project is on. Some updates will be released later in the 30-day release cycle.

All instances. US2 will be updated after its change freeze period ends.

Release schedule

We take a staggered approach when rolling out features and improvements to each instance. This means that on the release date, you may not see all updates immediately. Features are progressively rolled out over a 30-day period, starting from the indicated release dates below. We can’t guarantee a global rollout of features across instances within the same timeframe. Features that are not available on all instances are listed here. This information is accurate at the time of publishing and is subject to change without notice.
