February 2024

In the 24.02.100 release use project fields in upload profiles, export viewer comments to Excel, plus improvements for Cost, Models and Insights.

This release is for:
  • Document Controllers who use upload profiles for faster registration of their documents.
  • Teams using Models who need to see more across their models.
  • Insights users who need to see more information on what reports have been run.

Documents

What's new

Registration of documents is a breeze with the new improved upload profile

  • Project Fields associated with document types are now available in upload profiles.
  • When a document type is chosen, you'll see all relevant Document Fields and Project Fields associated with that type.
  • Choose default values for Project Fields and Document Fields.
  • We've also given the upload profile screen a new look.

Viewer

What's new

Export comments to Excel

Improvements and fixes

We fixed these bugs

  • Previously, when editing a file using the Office Online Viewer you were not able to save a draft or delete one. This has been fixed.
  • The Download with Markup Summary option was not shown for certain files in the Properties tab. Now it does.

Field

Improvements and fixes

We fixed a bug

  • Some of you experienced performance issues when adding lots of photos to inspection line items. We've improved this to show the upload progress of images, and prompt you to save as you add more images.

Models

What's new

Create vertical edges in your zone breakdown

You can now adjust the zone breakdown shape around a model by adding and removing vertical edges.

Zone breakdowns are areas in the project model used for clash detection. The breakdown could be your complete building, a part of it, or a set of individual adjacent areas. Vertical edges can be moved to adjust the shape of a zone breakdown. Adding new vertical edges (or removing them) helps to customize the shape of the zone breakdown further and make it more accurate.

There are some constraints to this feature:

  • You can't have less than three vertical edges remaining in the zone breakdown shape.
  • You can't remove vertical edges if it means the shape of the zone breakdown intersects itself.

Improvements and fixes

Model Inspections and clashes

  • We've made it easier to inspect and navigate around clashing objects in the viewer.
  • The measurement tool will go into its own focused 'mode' so that you can quickly add multiple measurements of different types.
  • Right-click an object to isolate it or apply transparency to reveal clashing geometry inside the object.
  • Easily set the camera to preset views e.g. front, back, top, bottom etc.
  • Use Shift+Click to quickly select a range of clashes from the left list panel when viewing clash results.

Cost

Improvements and fixes

Adding more details

It's easier to see change events directly from the Cost Worksheet. Click the new Change Event Items tab to view these details.

  • We've added Cost project ID and Aconex project ID columns to the projects list in cost administration. This helps you identify a project if you only know its ID.
  • We've updated error messages to help you find and update related records when deleting parent control accounts in a multi-level hierarchy.

Change events

  • Previously, when searching for change event items the search results did not include all the columns in the grid. We've made it easier to filter the results based on any available data.
  • The Period column in Direct actual Cost reports was displaying only zeros. It now displays the correct value.
  • Security profile permissions are now based on the record type instead of location and permissions are now assigned as required to allow contract changes.
  • "Exclusively use Change Management to manage changes" has been added to budget change setting in organization settings. This helps you set up defaults for all new projects.

Importing fixes

  • If you leave the control account and control element values empty when importing contract changes, the import will no longer blank out those values and keep the existing setup.
  • Control account and control element is now a mandatory field when importing contract change items.

Insights

What's new

Changes to the Report History panel

We've enhanced the report history panel to:

  • Display report runs from the current project only. This helps identify any reports from a specific project if someone has access to the same report in multiple projects.
  • Display reports run for the last 30 days, instead of just the last 10 runs.

Updated column names in printable reports

This helps avoid any confusion when using certain columns in printable reports

  • The following columns have been renamed in Change Events and Change Event items
    • Preliminary Estimate to Preliminary Cost Estimate.
    • Final Estimate to Final Cost Estimate.
    • Potential Contract Changes to Potential Downstream Contract Changes.
    • Pending Contract Changes to Pending Downstream Contract Changes.
    • Proceed Contract Changes to Proceed Downstream Contract Changes.
    • Approved Contract Changes to Approved Downstream Contract Changes.
  • Additionally in the Change Event items subject area, we renamed the column Contract to Downstream Contract.

Improvements and fixes

We fixed these bugs

  • There was an issue where cost reports failed to run when filtered using tag fields. It now supports tag filtering but make sure tag category names do not contain special characters.
  • In Document project fields, a Boolean field with values Yes/No was displayed as True/False. Now they display correctly.
  • Previously, reports that used the mail, mail transmittal in, mail transmitted subject areas failed to run with big reports that contained a lot of data. We've improved this to reduce the chance of the report failing.
  • In the User Details, Assignment & Configuration report, we've updated the description of Project Admin to avoid confusion. A Project Admin is defined as a user from the Aconex project-owning organization who has been granted Edit project settings permission in their assigned organization-level user role. The report does not consider access granted at the project-level user role.

Improvements and fixes

  • Lobby Administrators are now able to quickly locate the ID of the Lobby Organizations they administer.

We'll start the release on February 21 but it depends on what instance your project is on. Some updates will be released later in the 30-day release cycle.

All instances. US2 will be updated after its change freeze period ends.

Release schedule

We take a staggered approach when rolling out features and improvements to each instance. This means that on the release date, you may not see all updates immediately. Features are progressively rolled out over a 30-day period, starting from the indicated release dates below. We can’t guarantee a global rollout of features across instances within the same timeframe. Features that are not available on all instances are listed here.
