March 2024

In the 24.03.100 release, we see a brand new look for Model Explore, improvements to the Admin roles in Packages and Cost, and new report scheduling for Insights.

This release is for:
  • Model Coordinators who'll experience a new way to explore their models.
  • Everyone who asked to see more details when sending transmittals
  • Administrators using Cost and Packages
  • Package users that deal with packages that no longer have an administrator
  • Everyone who asked to schedule reports in Insights

Mail

Improvements and fixes

New View File Properties and Delete buttons on create Transmittal page

  • We've added new buttons when creating a Transmittal.
  • View File Properties shows both the document properties and the project fields of the attached documents before sending the Transmittal.
  • You can now select one or more documents and delete them or view their file properties.

Note: These features are ONLY available for registered documents on a Transmittal, NOT for mail attachments. Applies to the Transmittal mail type only. Does not apply to other transmittal types (Workflow, Supplier Document, Package, or Tender transmittals).

Packages

Improvements and fixes

Updates to Package Administrator permission

  • The Package Administrator permission has been updated and is being made available to all organizations.
  • There is no need to make a special request to have this user role permission enabled in your organization and no need to sign a disclaimer.

Users with the Package Administrator permission can:

  • Add a new Administrator for packages administered by their own organization.
  • Assume the Administrator role on packages administered by another organization on a package-by-package basis if the following conditions are met:
    • The user making the change is from the project-owning organization.
    • The organization(s) that previously administered the package are set to Archive status on the project.

Improvements to Bulk Create Packages template

  • We've made it easier to input details to create your packages faster.
  • Single-select fields appear as a dropdown for faster, more accurate data entry.

Improvements to pinned filters when searching packages

  • We've moved your pinned filters onto the main search area, so you can easily access them.
  • It's easy to see the search criteria in the pinned filters.

Models

What's new

Improvements for Clash in the Cloud

Design Issues automation. Clash metadata is now visible in design issues created from the clash. The issue status is automatically updated when the geometry in clashes has been resolved.

Use a saved object search to filter clashes in a clash test. The conditions of an object search can be previewed when creating a clash test to help confirm if the search is appropriate for the test.

Run clearance tests. The clearance type can now be used when creating a clash test. This allows specific object types to be selected for the test instead of the whole model.

You can now add models from the clash space setup screen to specify the models used to detect clashes, and focus coordination.

A new way to explore your models

A new experience for Model Explore will become available for all Model Coordination projects.

  • Benefits include:
    • A cleaner, modern interface to help you view your models faster.
    • Improved, interaction designs and usability enhancements.
    • Search for objects using object properties.
    • Save searches to use in your clash tests.
  • To access the new version, click the new Model Explore icon from the Models menu.
  • You can switch back to the classic Explore for now. The classic Explore will be retired soon, so we recommend you try out the new features when they are available on your project.

Object Search

You can now interrogate object data making it easier to find specific objects in models based on their object properties. Interrogating object data is the basis of many building processes that happen at all stages of a project.

Some of the benefits include:

  • Find specific objects in your models by searching for their properties.
  • Create simple or complex search conditions based on object data.
  • Isolate the search results in the viewer or show found objects highlighted in the model/s.
  • Save the object search for re-use later or use downstream for tests in Clash in the Cloud.
  • Supports both IFC and Revit models.
  • Only available in the new Model Explore.

Improvements and fixes

Add a design issue to multiple sets

When creating or editing a design issue, it can now be added to one or more issue sets.

  • This helps you group design issues together across multiple categories and report the status and progress of those issues.

Rename and re-order zones

Zones are automatically named when they are generated, and now users can rename the zones to better reflect the breakdown of the building.

  • You can now rename or reorder your zones.
  • You can change the name of the zone breakdown or the names of each zone.
  • This helps the zones on your project better reflect the breakdown of the building.

Composite objects selection

The new Model Explore introduces comprehensive composite/assembly object selection behaviour.

  • By default, individual or part objects of composites/assemblies are selectable in the model. For example, if you were to click railing of a staircase in the model, only the railing is selected rather than the whole staircase.
  • With composite selection toggled on, if you click the railing of the staircase, the entire staircase will be selected.
  • Once an object is selected, irrespective of being a composite or a part object, its properties can be viewed and its visibility and visual styling (such as transparency) can be adjusted.
  • This makes it easier to view object properties or apply visibility or visual styling on a composite object or its component objects.
  • Only available in the new Model Explore.

Cost

Improvements and fixes

Making things easier for Cost Admins

  • We resolved those pesky loading errors so your organization cost worksheet now loads without them.
  • The project currency column is now visible in the contract pay items grid, so you can quickly see the currency of the contract.
  • Now if you delete a change event with an approved/potential budget transfer, the budget transfer values are deleted too.
  • Tag values in the direct actuals grid are now set without needing to refresh, saving you time.
  • Upstream users with Execute/Approve permission for contracts can now enable overbilling on a contract by checking 'Allow overbilling' in the contracts grid.

Insights

Improvements and fixes

Report Scheduling

You can now schedule a report (standard or custom) to run for the current project:

  • Multiple schedules can be created for each report but the report will only run on one project.
  • You can specify the recurrence (e.g., daily, weekly, and monthly) along with the time.
  • Click on the three dots next to the report name and choose Schedule Report, then Add Schedule:

Limitations

  • Schedule functionality is not available for the Project overview report in this release.
  • We recommend limiting the time-frame to 5 years or less to avoid endless schedule runs.

Update to the History panel

  • We've improved the History panel to make it easier to use.
  • It's easier to see the status of reports and see if they were successful, still in progress or if they have failed.

Lobby

Improvements and fixes

SSO with two-step verification

  • We've updated the Single Sign-On flow to allow IT Administrators to implement two-step verification.
  • This means if your organization uses SSO to access Aconex, you can configure your Identity Policy to require 2SV in addition to SSO when using Lobby.

API

Improvements and fixes

OAuth

Smart Construction Platform (SCP) OAuth has been renamed to Lobby OAuth.

OAuth integrations

The existing Non-Interactive Integration type has been renamed to User-Bound Integration and a new method for implementing a Non-Interactive Integration has been provided.

  • Non-Interactive Integrations that connect to multiple Aconex instances can now register a single OAuth Client rather than multiple.
  • A Non-Interactive Integration can use different user accounts to access Aconex.

More details can be found on Support Central.

We'll start the release on Mar 20 but it depends on what instance your project is on. Some updates will be released later in the 30-day release cycle.

All instances. US2 will be updated after its change freeze period ends.

Release schedule

We take a staggered approach when rolling out features and improvements to each instance. This means that on the release date, you may not see all updates immediately. Features are progressively rolled out over a 30-day period, starting from the indicated release dates below. We can’t guarantee a global rollout of features across instances within the same timeframe. Features that are not available on all instances are listed here. This information is accurate at the time of publishing and is subject to change without notice.
