October 2024

In the October 2024 release, create document field values faster, see more on your mobile, and save time scheduling reports.

This release is for:
  • Those who use Aconex 2SV to access Outlook, Mobile, Archives or Smart Manuals.
  • Project Admins who configure document field values.
  • Inspectors who need to see more details about an issue.
  • Everyone using the new Model Explore.
  • Report schedulers who need to run the same report across multiple projects.
  • API developers who have explicit projects, or manage package distribution lists.

Aconex 2SV (two-step verification)

What's new

Changes to two-step verification for some Aconex applications

  • From 1 November 2024, we're no longer supporting Aconex 2SV on the below applications. After this date, you will no longer be able to access these applications using Aconex 2SV (two-step verification):
    • Aconex for Outlook
    • Aconex Mobile
    • Project Archive and Scheduled Archive
  • Please note that if you don't use these applications, you can continue to sign into the Aconex web application with Aconex 2SV.
  • If you use Aconex 2SV on any of the above applications, you will need to create a Lobby account and enable 2SV. Once you have created your Lobby account, you must use it to access these applications.
  • As you may know, we're making changes to the way you login to Aconex. All users will need a Lobby account to access Aconex, with some users already using this method.
  • If you try to use Aconex 2SV after this date, you won't be able to use the applications above. To ensure you still have access, we encourage you to create a Lobby account now, and enable 2SV. If you already have a Lobby account, you may want to enable 2SV for added security.

Documents

What's new

Override document field values

  • We recently gave you the ability to import select list values and codes for your document fields.
  • Now you can choose if you want to replace the existing values or not.
  • This helps you create a new set of values in one go.
  • Download your template with or without values, then choose if you want to add or override the existing values.

Improvements and fixes

Import more values in one go

  • Previously you were able to add 10,000 values in one import. Now you can add up to 200,000 values in a single import.

Mobile

What's new

See an issue’s source

  • In Aconex web you can see if an issue was created from an inspection or punchlist, by viewing the Source field. The Listed In field gives you the name of the punchlist.
  • Now you can see these details when viewing issues from your mobile device.
  • We've added these fields as search filters too, so you can find issues that were created from a particular process.
  • This helps you find issues to close from a specific punchlist or inspection.

Models

What's new

We've improved the new Model Explore

  • Measurements can be changed individually. Both measurements and sections can be removed individually or all at once.
  • The camera position now remains in place each time you load additional models. This helps you quickly view them without adjusting the zoom.
  • Filter models added as registered documents by model stack fields, such as revision, or discipline. These fields are configured in your project's settings.
  • Viewpoints now load the latest revision of models.
  • In the event the viewer runs out of memory, you'll see a message with an option to restart it to try again.
  • Learn more about the new Model Explore

Insights

What's new

Get reports for multiple projects in one go

  • You asked, we listened. If you run the same report for multiple projects, we’ve saved you some time.
  • Now you can schedule a report to run across multiple projects at once.
  • Your reports will be exported into one or more zip files. You can open these from any of the selected projects.
  • This saves you time from having to open each report separately.
  • You can schedule a report to run for up to 250 projects, and can manage the schedule from any of the included projects.
  • If a project report is missing from the ZIP file, you’ll see a failure reason in the project’s history panel.

Improvements and fixes

Reporting enhancements

  • To improve performance, the Workflow Document Review Outcome standard report now only displays workflow steps initiated within the past month by default. If you need to, you can change the filters to include more workflows.
  • The Hosted Name User report now includes guest users with or without email addresses.

Lobby

What's new

Making things clearer

  • We've updated fonts throughout the Lobby to make text clearer and easier to read.
  • We added a three dots menu to the card view. Here you'll find actions such as linking and unlinking projects.

Improvements and fixes

Copy text from the Lobby

  • Thanks to your feedback we’ve made it easier to copy and paste text displayed in the Lobby to other applications. Previously some text fields such as name, email address were not able to be selected.
  • This is helpful, for example, if you want to copy your list of users to another document.

API

Improvements and fixes

Invite users to explicit project using APIs

  • Great news if your project has been set to explicit invitation mode, and you want to invite users in bulk. Now you can use APIs to invite your users.
  • See the Directory API.

Manage package distribution lists and transmittals with APIs

We've added APIs to help you work with packages.

  • Package Distribution List DELETE allows you to delete a user or group from a distribution list.
  • Package Distribution List PUT lets you add a user or group to a distribution list.
  • Transmit Package POST helps you transmit the current version of a package to the package distribution list.
  • See the Packages API.

We'll start the release on October 2 but it depends on what instance your project is on. Some updates will be released later in the 30-day release cycle.

All instances except US2.

Release schedule

We take a staggered approach when rolling out features and improvements to each instance. This means that on the release date, you may not see all updates immediately. Features are progressively rolled out over a 30-day period, starting from the indicated release dates below. We can’t guarantee a global rollout of features across instances within the same timeframe. Features that are not available on all instances are listed here. This information is accurate at the time of publishing and is subject to change without notice.
