November 2024

In the November 2024 release, we've listened to your feedback and improved the new Model Explore, Project Admins get time-saving updates, and there's more to share in Cost.

This release is for:
  • All Models users.
  • Cost Admins who work with configured manual fields.
  • Project Admins who set up document fields for their projects.
  • Project Admins who configure mail types.
  • Projects that want to limit Mail notifications on their project.
  • Admins who need to archive lots of projects.
  • Those who need to link Aconex accounts to their Lobby account.

Documents

Improvements and fixes

Document field enhancements

  • You can now select and delete up to 50,000 document field values.
  • When previewing your document fields, you'll now see the confidential field includes a checkbox. This matches what users see when they upload documents.
  • If your import failed after importing document field values, you can now download the log file directly from the notification to help you fix any errors.

Mail

What's new

Limit Mail notifications on your project

  • Project Admins, we heard you. Now you can limit the information that is included in Mail notifications on your project.
  • You'll find the preference Limited Mail Module Notification in your project-wide preferences.
  • With the preference enabled, the mail body and attachments will not be included for notifications sent from the Mail module. This applies to all users on the project.
  • If a user on the project has set their notification preference to Entire mail body, or Entire mail body with attachments, they will see a message that notifications are restricted on the project. This means they will receive a notification only and it will not include the mail body or attachments.
  • This only applies to notifications sent from Mail, including transmittals. It does not apply to notifications from other Aconex modules such as Workflow Transmittal, Package Transmittal, Supplier Document Transmittal, and Tender Transmittal.

Models

What's new

Bringing back the models list

  • Many of you loved the model stacks list in classic Model Explore. We've got you.
  • Thanks to your feedback we've added a list view to the new Model Explore so you can see your models list at a glance.
  • Select your model(s) and click View to load them.
  • Loaded models appear at the top of the list so you always know which models you are working with.
  • Double click a model in the list to quickly zoom to it.
  • Click the eye icon to show or hide a model instantly.
  • Switch to the table list to manage models or load them in bulk.
  • Use the Group By dropdown to group your models by model stack fields if you've configured them. Also available in table view.
  • List view is now the default view and is always visible unless you close it or switch to the table view.

Highlight your models

  • Add color to a model to help you find it easily.
  • A color will be chosen by default, but you can pick a color of your choice.
  • Click the color icon to turn off the color override.

Linking to models

  • Select an object and link mail and documents to it.
  • Available for Model Coordination projects only.

A reminder we're retiring classic Model Explore

  • Classic Model Explore will be retired by end November 2024. After this date, you will no longer be able to use classic Model Explore.
  • Switch to the new Model Explore today

A reminder we're retiring comments in Model Coordination

  • Comments will be retired by end November 2024. After this date, you will not be able to access any data held within this feature.
  • You can export comments prior to the retirement date.
  • All Model Coordination projects should use Design Issues as the primary tool for raising issues against models.

Improvements and fixes

Even more features for the new Model Explore

  • For Model Coordination projects, after clicking Models from the main navigation menu, the new Model Explore will now open by default. Previously the Dashboard opened by default.
  • Need to show or hide room labels in the viewer? Under visibility tools menu you'll find the Hide All Labels option. By default, the labels are hidden.

Cost

What's new

Share configured manual fields

  • Gather more consistent information by sharing configured manual fields with other organizations.
  • When working with these fields you’ll see two tabs:
    • Internal: These are available to the organization who created it and available for all grids.
    • Shared: These are available to organizations that you've shared contracts with. They are only available for contract related grids such as contracts, contract pay items, contract changes, contract changes items, payment application and payment application items.

Improvements and fixes

Improvements for Cost

  • If you share a contract with a downstream organization, you'll now see a message to warn you that sharing the contract cannot be reversed.
  • The contracts and contract change values now calculate correct in the exported payment schedule or payment application PDFs.

Insights

Improvements and fixes

Improvements for reports

  • Thanks to your feedback, large reports now have more time to load before taking you to the report listing page. Previously if a report didn't load in two minutes the screen would move to the report listing. Now it will wait up to five minutes for the report to load in view so you can save it directly without going to the listing page.
  • The Distribution Group Members report now displays the Group Owner name correctly.
  • We've enhanced the Export to XML process to reduce the chance of the export from failing.

Setup

What's new

A new look for mail type settings

  • We've updated the mail types screen so it's easy to see what's been configured for each type.
  • For each mail type you'll see a tick if it's configured with either mail forms, restricted fields, distribution rules, or due date. This helps you identify where you need to make changes.
  • Click the three dots menu under the actions column to add or change the configuration.
  • A new search field at the top helps you find the mail type you want to configure quickly, rather than scrolling down the page.
  • While configuring a mail type you can quickly switch to another one, without going back to the full list.

Find projects faster

  • We've done some housekeeping on the List My Projects screen to help you find projects fast.
  • We added a bunch of new search fields including Project ID, Project Code, Project Type, Organization Access Level, Project Start Date, Estimated Completion Date, and Project Owner.
  • To make space for these new fields, some less used fields including Address, Phone and Fax were removed.

Close projects in bulk

  • If you're a project owner with lots of projects to archive, we've saved you some time.
  • Now you can select multiple projects and set them to archive access in one go.
  • Click Project Owner Tools from your list of projects to access the new feature. You'll see all projects your organization owns (where you are a Project Admin for the Aconex project-owning organization).
  • After selecting projects, click Set Project Access Level and choose an option as required.

Lobby

What's new

We're changing the way you link accounts

  • In late November there's a change to the way you link an Aconex account from the Manage Linked Accounts screen in the Lobby.
  • To link an Aconex account, you'll be prompted to sign into that account directly. After signing into the Aconex account you must then refresh the Lobby screen to see the account has been successfully linked.
  • Alternatively, your Org Admin can link account(s) for you.
  • Remember, all users must soon use their Lobby account to access Aconex. To make the transition easier, we encourage you to create a Lobby account today.

Improvements and fixes

Making things clearer

We've updated some actions to make them clearer and easier to find.

  • The back arrow to take you to the previous screen is now a link with the name of the previous screen, so you always know where you're going.
  • The More Actions button in the user list screen is now a three dots menu. Click this to find user options such as resetting a password or 2SV.

Requesting your feedback

  • Do you have suggestions on how we can improve your Lobby experience? Let us know by clicking Tell us what you think from the menu.

Create a Lobby account faster

  • We've removed the terms of service acceptance when creating a Lobby account.
