This month you'll find public comments for issues in Field, file scanning for documents, and an easier way to create custom reports.

This release is for:
  • Everyone who asked for greater visibility of issue comments in Field.
  • All users who create custom reports.
  • Those looking to save time adding multiple users to a mail.
  • Cost users who'll share documents attached to contract changes or payment applications.
  • Org Admins who create user accounts.

What's new

Add comments that everyone involved can see

  • You let us know you needed greater visibility of issue comments.
  • Now Assignees (or roles above) can add public comments to an issue by selecting Everyone in the To field. Comments posted to everyone are visible to all organizations working on the issue.
  • This improves collaboration on issues that require open conversation between all parties such as the general contractor, owner, and subcontractors. 
  • Public comments can be added from the web or Oracle Aconex Mobile.
  • We've also given the comments section a visual update, to make it easier to add, view, and filter your comments.
  • You can choose to share all your public issue comments with additional organizations from the Organizations you work with screen.

What's new

Enhanced protection with file scanning

  • Files uploaded to Aconex are now scanned for viruses and other malicious content.
  • This further protects your organization against threats, and reduces the risk of infected files being shared, in addition to your organization's existing antivirus measures.
  • If Aconex detects that a file in your project is corrupt or infected, it will isolate it to prevent it from being downloaded or shared. Isolated files cannot be retrieved.
  • For example, if you try to download an infected file, you'll see a message that the file is infected and cannot be downloaded. If you zip download multiple files, any infected files detected in the zip will be replaced with a text file to advise it cannot be downloaded.
  • If you are notified about an infected file, you should let the owner (and recipients) of the file know immediately and contact your IT department so they can take antivirus measures.
  • We'll gradually rollout file scanning to each instance over the coming months, starting with CA1. It will rollout across areas of Aconex where you interact with files including Mail, Packages, Tenders, and Supplier Documents. On the mobile app, file scanning will apply to Mail, Documents and Drawings.

What's new

Making it easier to create custom reports

  • Thanks to your feedback we've streamlined the report creation process, so it's much easier to create the report you need.
  • You no longer need to separately set up a data model and layout. Simply select the columns, filters and output for your report all in one flow.
  • Your existing reports will continue to work. You'll find it much easier to update them using the new editor.
  • Reports created using the new editor are optimized for Excel output, plus the abilty to report across modules, such as Mail, Documents and Workflows.
  • Advanced users who prefer the previous layout builder have the option to switch to the advanced editor during the process.
  • This feature is planned for release in early October 2025.

Enhanced reporting

  • We've optimized the reporting engine to get reports into your hands faster.
  • In this release, you'll see significant improvement when running any reports using the following subject areas:
    • Mail
    • Documents
    • Workflow
    • Field Inspection 
  • We've made additional improvements to the Overdue & Open Task by Users standard report by removing unwanted filters. Plus, Workflow and Field data in this report now display correctly in all supported languages.

Select multiple results from the directory

  • We've made improvements to save you time and clicks when adding users to a mail or group.
  • Now you can search for users and check a box to select all results on the page. No more clicking each person one at a time!
  • You must first run a search to enable the checkbox.
  • To select users across multiple pages of results you need to check the box on each page.
  • You'll need to have the Select All Users on Page permission granted to your user role to perform this action.

More memory by default

  • The model viewer will now use the maximum available memory from your web browser for loading models.
  • This provides the best user experience, especially when working with larger complex models.
  • If required, you can adjust this to a lower setting from model viewer preferences. Previously the default setting was Medium.

Improvements for Cost

  • Documents attached to contract changes or payment applications in draft mode can now be shared with partnering organizations. This ensures documents are linked to the relevant contract changes or payment applications.
  • Disabled organizations are no longer available to select when adding an external organization. Previously, selecting a disabled organization would throw an error.

  • If you initiate a submission for a document that is already in review, we'll now tell you the package number so you can quickly take action on the current review.

A separate email address for notifications

  • When you create a new user, you can now provide an email address to send email notifications to (including password resets). This is the email address that will be used on the associated Aconex account.
  • For most users, the email address should be the same as the username. 

Review new user details

  • We've added a summary screen to the user creation process so you can check the details are accurate before you proceed to create the account.
  • The login name for the associated Aconex account is automatically generated, but you can click the pencil icon to change it. This is helpful if you use a naming convention for login names in your organization.

Tracking last sign in

  • As a Lobby Admin you can add the Last Sign-In column to your user list to see when users last accessed the Lobby.

Filter contract changes by status

We'll gradually release each update over a 30-day period starting September 21.

These updates are available to all instances.

Release schedule

Features are gradually rolled out to each instance over a 30-day period, starting from the indicated dates below. You may not see all updates immediately. We can’t guarantee a global rollout of features across instances within the same timeframe. Oracle Aconex Mobile is updated in the fourth week of the month.
