Search within file content

Search the content of your documents to find what you’re looking for.

Use this option to find documents that contain certain words or phrases. You can search the content of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and rich PDF documents up to 50Mb in size.

File content search is available in the Document Register, Drawings, and Temporary Files.

Things to note:

  • You can search for text in PDFs that are text readable. Text readable means you can highlight the text inside the PDF file. See details below for searching text in scanned PDFs.
  • Files larger than 50MB will not have their file content searched.
  • Up to 50,000 words of a document are searched.

Can I search for text in PDFs that have been scanned? No. Currently only text based PDFs are supported.

To include document content in your search, check the Include file content box in the search field.

Tip!

You can refine the search results using the document metadata fields, to find, for example, only Agenda documents containing a certain word or phrase.
