See who accessed or changed a document in the event log

It's easy to see who from your organization has accessed a document in Aconex.

Use the Event Log to see who within your own organization has downloaded, reviewed, opened or updated a document.

  1. Choose your project from the Project Selector at the top of the page.
  1. Click Documents.
  2. Under Search, click Document Register.
  1. Complete one or more search criteria fields.
  2. Click the Search button.
  1. Click the options menu for the document you want to open.
  2. Choose Event Log.
  1. You'll receive a list of all document events, the person's name, the revision number of the document, the date and the time.

Tip!

Remember, the event log only shows activity by people within your organization.

Event definitions

Type Event(s) Description
Authorization Confidentiality Revoked The user turned off confidentiality on this version of the document. Note other versions may be confidential.
Authorization Confidentiality Enabled The user set this version of the document as confidential. Details of the user who was granted access will be shown. Each user granted access is shown as a separate event.
Management Locked or Unlocked The document was locked/unlocked by a user, or by a process such as a workflow or a supplier document submission.
Notification Received on... no update as same document version exists This version of the document was received on a transmittal but already exists in your document register. Click the transmittal link to view it.
Send Sent The user transmitted this version of the document to another organization. Click the link to view the transmittal. This may be a regular transmittal or initiated by a process such as a workflow.
Update Auto Uploaded or Auto Superseded The document was automatically uploaded or updated by receiving a transmittal or during a process such as a workflow.

Note
: The user on this event isn't necessarily the person who updated the document. Look for events that occur at the same time to confirm which process updated the document, and view the related transmittal to see who sent it. The event log records details from your organization's perspective, so the user field is often populated with the first recipient of the transmittal (from your org).
Update Edited The document was updated. This is the new version that was created.

Details of what was changed may be shown in brackets. Not every field edit is captured - for those, you'll see the word 'Edited'

Multiple changes may occur across multiple events at the same time.

Note
: The user on this event isn't necessarily the person who updated the document. Look for an 'Auto Uploaded' or 'Auto Superseded' event that occurs at the same time to confirm which process updated the document, and view the related transmittal to see who sent the updated version.
Update Restored to Current Document Version The user with appropriate permission has set this version as the current version of the document. A new version will be created at the same time with an 'Edited' event.
Update Uploaded The user registered this document. It will be version 1.
View Downloaded The user downloaded this version of the document.
View Previewed The user previewed this version of the document.
View Viewed The user viewed the document properties or event log for this version of the document.
