Enable document auto-numbering for a project

Give project collaborators the ability to set their own document numbers.

If your project started before 2012, document auto-numbering will not be enabled by default, but the project owner can enable it if it's needed.

Tip!

When you enable document auto-numbering for your project, the Lock mail and document types preference on the Project tab is also enabled. You can’t change this preference while document auto-numbering is enabled.

  1. Click Setup from the Module Menu, and then under Configuration, click Preferences.
  2. Click the Project tab.
  1. Scroll to the Project-wide Settings section.
  2. In the Documents section, in the Enable project wide auto-numbering of documents row, clear the Use Default Setting checkbox and select the Setting checkbox.
  3. Click the Save button.
