Project Admins can prevent unintentional changes to package numbers by restricting users from editing package numbers after a package has been created.
Package number changes are enabled by default on a project. If the project requires a stricter control around package numbering, Project Admins have the option to adjust this setting.
1. Click Setup and select Project Settings, click on Packages, then select Package Settings.
2. Under Package Number Settings, untick the box Enable changes to Package Number and click Update.
Once the restriction has been configured, users who create packages will see a message that the package number cannot be changed. In edit mode, users will see the package number, but it cannot be changed. This setting can be turned on and off at any time.
You can't change a package number if its package type has autonumbering enabled. This setting has no effect.
