Transmit a package

You can send a package transmittal directly from Packages.

Things to note:

  • The people you transmit the package to will only be able to view the package and its contents. You can add them as an administrator or editor of the package to give them more access.
  • You cannot send packages to guest users.
  • You don't need the ability to create a transmittal to send a Package.
  • If you are working with a large number of documents, there are restrictions to the number of documents you can transmit in a single package transmittal. The maximum number of documents that can be sent on any one package transmittal is 3,000, and the maximum weighting (documents by recipient organizations) is 15,000. This means that if you are sending less than 3,000 documents then the number of recipient organizations can increase as long as the overall weighting remains less than 15,000.
  • Child packages in the package hierarchy are not sent automatically. You need to transmit child packages separately.
  • If you send the package to an organization that does not have access to the parent package, the package will be visible at the top level of the hierarchy or will be visible as a child of the next available package in the hierarchy.

Your organization administrator controls who has the ability to transmit a package. If you don’t have permission, you won’t see a Send Package button.

  1. In Packages, select a package from the Package register.

  2. Click Send Package.

  1. The Send Package window will open. The Send to field will be pre-populated with any administrators or editors of the package.
  2. Click in the Send to field and start typing to add more recipients.
  3. Complete the subject line.
  4. Enter a message if required.
  5. Click Send to transmit the package. All recipients will receive a Package Transmittal.

Package Transmittal Settings

Project Administrators can configure the project to:

  • Send all package documents in a Package Transmittal, or
  • Send only new and/or updated documents in a Package Transmittal.

The second option makes it easier for recipients to see what has changed in a package. Documents in a package that have not changed since the previous Package Transmittal will not be re-transmitted.

This project-wide setting can be configured from Setup > Project Settings > Packages > Transmittal Settings.
