Compare files in the Online Viewer

Use File Comparison during a review process to compare document versions

Use File Comparison during a review process or while viewing a document to compare the current version of your PDF document with any available previous version of the same document.

The current version of the document is automatically selected. Choose the second file to be compared with the current version. The comparison detects text or drawing changes between the files. The differences are displayed in a compared view using a unique color for each file.

Only available for PDF files. Scanned files are unsupported.

  1. With a document open in the Online Viewer, click File Comparison

Tip!

File comparison is also available from the Document Register.

  1. Choose a version to compare with the current version. The dropdown lists all available versions from your organization's document register. The list displays in the following format: Document Number: Document Title (Revision) (Version).
  1. Click Compare.

The comparison screen will display:

  • The current version. Indicated with a red circle.
  • The file you chose to compare with. Indicated with a blue circle.
  • The compared view, highlighting the differences between the versions. Differences in the compared view are shown in red for the current version, and blue for the selected version.
  1. Click Select version to compare another version.

Tip!

You need to exit full-screen mode if you cannot see the File Comparison option.
